- Googled "Am I having a miscarriage" every single day during the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. You will always think you are having a miscarriage if you google this.
- Ate sushi about once a week for the first 18 weeks. Will probably continue this trend for the remainder of my pregnancy.
- Ate lots of lunch meat that was not heated up to 160 degrees.
- Did not exercise for 30 minutes a day, or practically ever, during the first 12 weeks. I was way too exhausted.
- Gained 6 pounds in my first trimester. Most women don't gain any weight during this period. I ate bread and crackers every day and it happened fast.
- Hiked to 8,000 feet elevation one day, and 9,000 feet elevation the next day during a vacation to California.
- Hot yoga a time or two. Or 5.
- Toasted with champagne at a wedding.
- Ate a lot of soft cheese.
- Went trail running.
- Drank more than 8 ounces of coffee on two occasions. Actually, I'm kind of proud of this one, because that takes a lot of willpower every day!
- Drank unpasteurized juice at a juice bar in my neighborhood.
Being pregnant in America is bizarre. In any other country in the world, no one would be so concerned about such things. The "threat of listeria" can't get me down.
